National Journal Research is launching its latest venture called the Network Science Initiative. The new service will focus on identifying connections between individuals and entities that shape public policy in industries like Healthcare, Energy, Finance, and others.  Our team of analysts will partner with corporations, associations, and non-profits to create maps that highlight connections among the top 1,000 to 2,000 significant shapers of public policy in a particular terrain.

Position in Brief

National Journal Analysts lead key parts of each Network Science engagement, identifying patterns, helping us refine the product, and delivering value to our member organizations. Analysts will work directly with senior leaders in National Journal, and provide insight to the most influential government affairs professionals in Washington.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to deeply understand the research and execute against tight deadlines to develop intellectually challenging deliverables.

Attributes Particular to this Position

  • A highly analytical, natural problem solver
  • The ability to highlight key insights within a complex set of data and information, and then clearly explain these insights to potential clients
  • A skilled project manager, managing competing priorities and adhering to timelines
  • An individual with experience in at least one of the following domains: strategy consulting,  business research, government affairs consulting, policy analysis, Capitol Hill, political science research, executive agency policymaking, data science
  • An interest in intellectually rigorous work focused on the business of Washington government affairs offices
  • A strong writer able to clearly frame issues for a variety of audiences
